The Songbook Project

Do you love American folk music, music theater, and jazz? Do you enjoy playing an instrument or singing with others?  Join us for a workshop where participants investigate the cultural and historical context of the “Great American Songbook” and work together to create unique musical performances of selected repertoire.

This is an exciting opportunity to examine music from contrasting perspectives, and co-create original interpretations of standard repertoire rooted in historical context. This workshop is suitable for all musicians (classical, contemporary, jazz, beginner, experienced, etc), and will be enjoyable and productive for all.

This workshop will be led by Becca Woodbury & Hannah Mowry.

Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you don’t live it, it won’t come out of your horn. They teach you there’s a boundary line to music. But, man, there’s no boundary line to art.
— Charlie Parker
